“I’m nominating Troy Stevenson for this award because of his exceptional contributions in fostering both team and individual development. Troy has created a more positive and healthy company culture and consistently goes above and beyond to lend a helping hand.
He had a coworker text that they were having car trouble and would be late. Instead of being upset or going about his day, he immediately went to help them. He wasn’t asked to and didn’t have to, but he immediately went to help because that’s the kind of person he is. He’s always finding a way to help out a coworker or friend. He’s someone you can always count on being there for you. He makes me want to come into work every day just to talk to him and hear his insight. He’s always offering encouragement and support when needed. No matter how tough of a day he’s having himself, he always checks on others and does what he can to make their day better.”
How have you grown your business relationships and business outcomes through the power of gratitude?
Starting from humble beginnings as a dock worker and rising to become an account manager, I’ve learned valuable lessons along the way. Whether loading a truck with a coworker in 110-degree heat or working in a cool, air-conditioned office, I’ve come to understand that every individual’s job is crucial in building relationships based on trust and communication. By consistently showing up and expressing gratitude, I’ve forged strong connections through both successes and mistakes.
These experiences have taught me that it’s okay to be vulnerable at times, allowing me to be open to fresh ideas. Honesty and commitment in these relationships have built a trust that I am unwilling to compromise. I believe this has helped me to have some of the personal successes that I have had with both my colleagues and my clients.
“One of the groups in our stakeholder model is the community, which focuses on team member engagement, donations, and time.
Pegasus gives every employee a paid day to be used towards volunteering. Team members are encouraged to use this volunteer day during the work week to give back. Managers also organize team-building around this volunteer day as a way to grow closer as a team while helping those in need. Team members can select any cause they want to support. Over the last year, there have been more than 675 logged volunteer hours submitted.
Our Culture Team is primarily focused on four areas – Community Service (C), Recognition (R), Events (E), and Wellness (W). The Recognition CREW captain is responsible for measuring our recognition efforts and encouraging Leadership to make it a part of their weekly focus. The Recognition CREW Captain provides updates in our monthly Company and Information Announcement (C.I.A) meetings as well as our monthly all-hands culture chats.Another program we have to thank employees for going above and beyond is our “People on Point” or POP program. Each manager is given access to our POP form (also moved from a manual to automated process within the last year) in which $55k has been sent to team members since September of 2023. A POP can be given in any amount between $25-$200. This program has empowered our managers to be able to fiscally reward team members at any time for outstanding efforts.”
“Lisa cares about everyone and everyone’s success, she works hard to have a balance between her military family life and work life but is always available anytime a team member needs her, she always answers the call. Lisa not only acts as a leader, but also as a friend, a counselor, and problem solver- whether for business or someone’s personal challenges. Lisa has also taken money out of her personal account to show appreciation for her team members without letting anyone know she does this. She has a genuine concern for over 75 employees in 8 stores, some of which are over 5 hours away from her.”
How does gratitude help you be more successful in your business life?
“Gratitude helps me boost culture and motivation in my team because they feel seen for their hard work and dedication. This helps build trust. I believe a positive work environment leads to growth because my team feels appreciated and valued. I genuinely appreciate being a leader within SportClips, I find purpose in my work.”
Congratulations to Christopher Roy, the principal at Sunrise Elementary, who was the winner of the 2022 Thnks Gratitude in Business Award.
“Mr. Roy was instrumental when our city lost power and his school was named a cooling station. Although not required, he spent hours at the cooling station assisting the city with making sure people and their pets were comfortable and had the resources they needed. At this time, he was also responsible for determining damage to his school, notifying his staff and the District office, and managing his personal life in the aftermath of the storm.”
