A Few of Thnks’ Favorite Mission-Driven Organizations

Normally, when we go about our daily routines, it can be hard to take a step back and remember that we are microcosms existing in a world that’s much larger than us.

If anything, current circumstances have caused us all to reflect, and perhaps recent restrictions have given us a broader perspective.

As we observe (both in-person and virtually) actions such as daily 7pm cheers in support of essential workers throughout cities such as New York and Boston, the sounds of clanging pots and whistles remind us that we’re all a part of a global community, and helping one another, especially at this time, is paramount.

In an effort to parallel this acknowledging applause, we wanted to take a moment to shine our blog’s metaphorical spotlight on a few of our favorite mission-driven organizations that you can find on our platform:

CARE

To assist those who are protecting us during this uncertain period, we’ve recently partnered with CARE so that individuals can send a care package and message of support to essential personnel.

By responding to worldwide disasters, CARE’s mission is to save lives, defeat poverty, and achieve social justice at a global scale.

In addition to creating a custom CARE category on our platform, here are a few different examples of CAREpackages that you can select:

  • An afternoon pick me up shared with caregivers to help them stay energized.
  • A meal or groceries to ensure that essential workers stay nourished.
  • Pure Relaxation Basket that will help them relax and reconnect with their loved ones.

Every package that you choose to send is accompanied with a $3 donation to CARE.

Girls Who Code

Founded in 2012, Girls Who Code was created in an effort to close the gender gap in computing by developing a new model of education to equip girls with the skills they’d need to pursue career opportunities in the field.

Due to current circumstances, Girls Who Code has launched a free virtual video series including an at-home curriculum to support young women in tech who are up for learning how to #codefromhome.

World Wildlife Fund

For more than 50 years, WWF has been working towards conserving nature and reducing the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth.

And although COVID-19 may be dominating our news feeds at this time, it’s important to keep the wellbeing of our planet and our animal friends who inhabit it alongside us in mind.

Consider binge watching Netflix’s eight-part original documentary series, Our Planet, or making a donation for a connection as an expression of appreciation.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that assists families with building places that they can call “home.”

In addition to believing that affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable populations, Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to bring individuals together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Now more than ever, families need the security and stability of a decent home that they are capable of affording. It’s the perfect time to support an influential institution and show someone that you care by making a donation in their name.

Producing a Positive Impact Despite Uncertainties

Although we’re currently navigating through a multitude of uncertainties, we are still capable of making an impact while curled up on our couches.

Sure, it’s easy to become weighed down by derogatory news headlines. However, one way that we can combat negative noise is through supporting mission-driven organizations that strive to make a positive difference.

The best part? These generous acts of gratitude might just put a smile on your face.

You can support a variety of mission-driven organizations in addition to the ones featured above by saying Thnks. Within seconds, users can select a charitable institution to endorse on another individual’s behalf, create a customized note, and share it via SMS or email.
